3 Day Itinerary for Rameswaram and Madurai

#travelwithgdp Fact: Studies show that money spent on travel makes you happier than money spent on material goods.

Description: Sharing a 3 Day itinerary to Rameswaram and Madurai for all the travellers out there:

Day 0: We boarded a sleeper bus from Bangalore to Rameswaram direct. Bus cost us around Rs. 1000 per person.

Day 1: Reached Rameswaram early in the morning and checked in at SDM Golden Tower, which in fact was super close to the Rameswaram Temple, we didn’t have to go hotel hunting. Any ride in the city is just Rs. 50 so not all of TN autorickshaws are ripoffs. We visited the Ramanathaswamy Temple in the morning and then went for some traditional South Indian breakfast opposite the temple. After a small break in the hotel and a change of clothes. We walked to the House of Kalam on Mosque where Sir APJ Abdul Kalam grew up. Afterward, we caught an auto who will charge anything between Rs. 500-800 to visit Dhanuskondi Town and the tip. The whole journey took pretty much till the evening and we returned back to the hotel and called it a day.

Day 2: We woke up early and had a mini meal at SDM itself. Then we decided to explore Pamban Town and the bridge. We were luckily able to view the train passing underneath so plan your visit by asking the locals around. Then after lunch, we visited the five faced Hanuman temple and caught the local train to Madurai which passes over Pamban Bridge for just Rs. 35. One reaching Madurai East Station, we rested at the Lotus Hotel which is very close to the Station, Bus Stand as well as the Meenakshi Temple. We had dinner at a mess opposite our hotel which served extremely delicious meals.

Day 3: We visited the Meenakshi Temple, Gandhi Memorial Museum, Koodal Azhagar Temple and Alagar Koyil all by using just the Autorickshaws. We had dinner at Murugan Idli Shop which served the best Idlis in the town.

Day 4: Boarded an early morning bus to Kanyakumari.
