Ghirardelli Square

#travelwithgdp Fact: At Kearny and Washington streets in San Francisco, Domenico Ghirardelli – born in Rapallo, Italy, opens a confectionary shop, Ghirardely & Girard, which eventually becomes the modern-day Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. I need more space, the company buys the Pioneer Woolen Building on San Francisco’s northern waterfront, and manufacturing moves there; this is the present site of Ghirardelli Square.

Description: Ghirardelli’s is a quintessential stop in San Francisco and it’s worth the effort to check it out. You can find all the famous chocolates for sale and some hard to find flavors as well. And, they have a cafe which has some great drinks to offer. During tourist season it is crowded. But, the milkshakes, sundae, and coffee are delicious.
