Shorfet Alalamin – Nizwa

#travelwithgdp Fact: Historians cannot agree on the origins of the name of Nizwa. Some suggest the name was derived from the Arabic verb (Arabic: انزوا‎) which means being alone. Others say that the city was named after an old water spring.

Description: If we drive a few kilometers off from the Hoota Caves, you will come across Shorfet Alalamin, the last restaurant and driving path available. Beyond this an off-roading trek towards a beautiful city, but can be accessed only by a road which is hardly 50-60 feet wide. We took up this challenge as we had a Mitsubishi SUV and trust me, it was one of the scariest car rides I have been in. But totally worth it. Oh and don’t forget, the temperatures up here was as low as 10°C.
